Holding the Hands High with Palms Up to Regulate the Internal Organs

Traditional movement name, not a medical claim.

Holding Hands High

Standing version

Stand hip-width with soft knees. Turn the palms upward, lift both hands slowly above the head without shrugging, then lower them through the centre.

Seated version

Sit tall with feet flat. Raise the palms only as high as the shoulders allow, keep the ribs quiet, then lower slowly.

Helpful cue

Move slowly, keep the joints soft, and let your breathing stay natural.

Do not do this

Do not force the range, lock a joint, move quickly, or hold your breath.

Who should take extra care
