2. Animal Play
Kids are natural Tai Chi masters. They are flexible, their posture is usually perfect (until school desks ruin it), and they live in the present moment. But they get bored fast.
Don't Call It Meditation
If you tell a 7-year-old to "meditate," they will rebel. If you tell them to learn "Secret Ninja Moves," they are in.
Animal Play
Tai Chi is based on nature. Use the animals:
* Snake Creeps Down: Squat low on one leg. Can you get as low as a snake?
* White Crane Spreads Wings: Balance on one leg. big arm wings. Who can stay up the longest?
* Repulse Monkey: Walking backward while twisting.
The Balance Challenge
Kids love competition. "Who can be the Golden Rooster for 1 minute without touching the floor?"
Water Bending
Use imagination. "Imagine you are moving through water. It's heavy. Push the water." This teaches them the concept of resistance and slow motion without explaining physics. It turns the air into a playground.
