Upper-body strength

Practise these four exercises slowly from a stable chair and stop before pain.

Chest press

Press the palms together at chest height for 3-5 seconds, breathe, release, and repeat.

Side arm raises

Raise straight but soft arms to shoulder height, then lower without shrugging.

Wall press

Face a wall from the chair, place palms at chest height, bend the elbows slightly, then press away gently.

Biceps curl

With empty hands or optional 0.5 L bottles, bend the elbows and bring the hands toward the shoulders.

Helpful cue

Move slowly, keep the joints soft, and let your breathing stay natural.

Do not do this

Do not force the range, lock a joint, move quickly, or hold your breath.

Who should take extra care

Stop with pain, pressure, unusual shortness of breath, or dizziness.
